Seoul Hapjeong Hanjeongsik Restaurant: Wudamga & Haedamga

In the vicinity of Hapjeong Station in Seoul, you can find a complex apartment called “Mesena Polis.” Within the shopping area of this complex apartment, various establishments, including restaurants and cafes, can be explored. Compared to other shopping areas within complex apartments, this one has a larger scale.

Mesena Polis hosts a variety of restaurants, including well-known franchises like McDonald’s and Starbucks. Among the larger establishments, one stands out, and that is the restaurant named “Wudamga & Haedamga.”

On this particular day, there was a need to find a sizable restaurant. It was a day when around 50 people had to visit a restaurant as part of the closing ceremony for a 6-week program conducted by the U.S. Department of State. Since it was one of the only two remaining opportunities to share a meal with the U.S. scholars who had participated in the program, a restaurant with both a decent size and good food was sought.

Considering that finding a sizable restaurant outside Mesena Polis or Delight Square near Hapjeong Station might be challenging, I explored these two locations. Among the options that had a reasonable menu selection and size, “Wudamga & Haedamga” was the only restaurant that fit the criteria.

“A Restaurant Offering Clean and Sizeable Hanjeongsik Meals”

While “Wudamga & Haedamga” appears as if they are separate restaurants, they are, in reality, operated as one. Wudamga specializes in dishes using meat, while Haedamga focuses on seafood dishes. However, when you visit the restaurant, you can choose any dish from either menu.

With a fairly substantial size, individual dining rooms available, it is particularly suitable for important meetings or events, making it a great place for group visits. Perhaps for this reason, you can easily see a list of guests marked as “Reserved” from the entrance.

“A Restaurant Providing Neat Hanjeongsik Meals”

On this day, I visited the restaurant for both lunch and dinner. Since there were various tasks to be completed after the lunch session due to a tight schedule, and with a large group visiting at once, it was a bit hectic. Given that it was necessary to take care of many things for foreign students, it was a busy time.

The restaurant offers a variety of menu options. During lunchtime, due to the large number of people visiting at once, the menu was simplified to four options: Grilled Mackerel, Chadol Doenjang Jjigae (beef brisket soybean paste stew), Mul Naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth), and Bibim Naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles). Guests could choose one from these options.

For dinner, I had the meal with university student supporters who had assisted with the program. Since it was a relatively relaxed time after finishing the closing ceremony, and as it marked the end of the main program, there was almost no psychological burden. The menu for dinner was different, and I could order the “Boyang Jeongol Set,” a nutritious hot pot.

“A Convenient Place for Dining with Provided Rooms”

One notable advantage of this place is that it provides rooms, making it possible to have a more atmospheric dining experience. This makes it suitable for various occasions, such as business meetings, romantic dates, or family gatherings.
