Line Friends Store at Hysan Place, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

While in South Korea, “KakaoTalk” reigns as the nation’s messenger app of choice, overseas, many opt for “Line.” Line, too, was developed by a Korean company, but due to the dominance of KakaoTalk within Korea, Line initially struggled to secure a user base and even faced the possibility of being discontinued. However, a surge in international users, particularly in Japan and Southeast Asian countries, led to a remarkable turnaround.

Ultimately, Line now boasts a user base far larger than that of KakaoTalk. However, due to KakaoTalk’s strong presence in Korea, Line’s prominence is not as widely recognized domestically.

Yet, when visiting Japan or Southeast Asian countries, one can truly appreciate the influence of Line Messenger. This has led to the establishment of “Line Friends” stores in various locations worldwide.

In Hong Kong, you can find the “Line Friends Store” at the “Hysan Place” shopping mall in the Causeway Bay area.

“Character Goods Featuring Line Messenger’s Characters”

The Line Friends Store is located on the 2nd floor of Hysan Place. Much like what you would find in a Line Friends store in Korea, you can discover an array of products featuring the characters from the Line Messenger app.

Following a visit to the Line Friends store in Hong Kong, it was discovered that the store also sells simple snacks. Among the offerings was a type of instant noodles called “Boss Noodles,” and a milk tea product created in collaboration with Lipton.

Coming across the Line store at Hysan Place in Hong Kong, and encountering characters originating from Korea in an international setting, was a delightful surprise, prompting a leisurely exploration.
