Hamdoek Beach: Jeju’s White Sand Paradise

Situated approximately 20km east of Jeju Airport, Hamdoek Beach is a renowned gem among the beautiful beaches on Jeju Island.

Hamdoek Beach harmoniously combines white sands with the emerald hues of the sea. Particularly praised for its water color resembling that of an emerald, it stands out as one of the top three most beautiful beaches on Jeju Island, alongside Hyeopjae and Gimnyeong.

Hamdoek Beach is also known by another name, “Hamdoek Seoubong Beach,” which is derived from the adjacent “Seoubong Peak,” standing tall next to the beach.

Famous for its crystal-clear waters, it is an ideal destination for family outings or romantic getaways.

“Ever-changing Hamdoek Beach”

Hamdoek Beach was a place I visited during my first trip to Jeju Island back in 2014. Returning in 2021, nearly seven years later, I could see that the scenery had changed a bit.

While nature played a more dominant role in the past, it now seems that various shops have taken their place around Hamdoek Beach. This indicates that the surrounding commercial area is becoming more vibrant.

Walking along the promenade, you can admire the emerald-colored seawater up close. It’s a famous spot in Jeju Island, known for providing a serene escape to cool off and enjoy the beach.

In the vicinity, you can find a variety of restaurants, cafes, and shops, offering not only the scenic beauty of Jeju Island but also a taste of its local flavors.
