Seoul Sinchon “Baramsan Observatory”

The Sinchon area in Seoul is a prominent landmark representing the university district. It’s centered around Sinchon Station and is home to major universities like Yonsei University, Ewha Womans University, and Sogang University. Because of this, you’ll find a lot of young students and individuals in the Sinchon area.

While it might seem unlikely to find an observatory where you can get a high vantage point view in Sinchon, it’s actually possible. There’s a hill in Sinchon named “Baramsan,” and a park with an observatory was established here for visitors to enjoy the scenery.

To reach the observatory where you can overlook the Sinchon area, first, locate Sinchon-dong Community Center. When you approach from Yonsei University or Ewha Womans University direction to Sinchon-dong Community Center, you’ll notice an outdoor escalator similar to the ones in Hong Kong. Utilize the escalator to conveniently climb up the hill.

As you follow the hill path to the right of Sinchon-dong Community Center, you’ll see a park area. You can ascend to the park using the stairs, but there’s also an outdoor elevator available for your convenience.

After descending from the elevator, climbing the stairs, or following the hill path a bit further, you’ll arrive at the observatory where you can enjoy the view of Sinchon. While not as high as the N Seoul Tower, it’s a hidden gem in Sinchon where you can take in the sights of the Sinchon area and Yonsei University at a glance.
