Macao Cotai Hotel & Resort “The Venetian”

In the Cotai area of Macao, you can find a concentration of luxury hotels, resorts, shopping malls, and more. Each complex mall is decorated with its own unique concept. Among them, the most famous space used as a complex mall, resort, and hotel is “The Venetian.”

This place is inspired by the Italian “Venice,” the city of water. As a result, it is adorned both on the exterior and interior to resemble the city of Venice.

“The Venetian, Inspired by the City of Water, Venice”

While most resorts in the Cotai area of Macao exude a luxurious atmosphere, The Venetian stands out as one with a particularly upscale ambiance. It is meticulously decorated from the building’s floors, walls, to ceilings, leaving no detail overlooked.

Especially, the first floor is adorned in gold, allowing you to experience the unique luxury of Macao.

“Experience the Casino on the Open First Floor”

When you think of Macao, the first image that comes to mind is “casinos.” Each resort has a casino situated on the open first floor. You must be at least 21 years old to enter, and your passport is checked for age verification upon entry.

“The Second Floor, Styled after the City of Water, Venice”

Upon ascending to the second floor, you’ll encounter a space that authentically represents the city of water, Venice. Although indoors, it boasts an impressive scale with waterways. You can observe boats navigating the central canal, much like in real Venice.

While I personally didn’t ride a gondola, if you walk along the waterways, you can easily spot people taking gondola rides. As you proceed, you may even hear the sailors operating the gondolas singing.

“Diverse Shops”

On the second floor, you can see various shops lined along the waterways. The space is decorated like a department store, and you can find well-known brand stores that you commonly hear about.

Particularly memorable was the “Manchester United” store. I’m not sure what the connection between Macao and Man Utd is, but at the store entrance, there was a display of the legendary striker Solksjaer’s uniform. Encountering a “Man Utd” souvenir shop in Macao, out of the blue, made it even more memorable.

“A Considerable-Sized ‘The Venetian'”

The Venetian is known for its considerable size. In fact, it is renowned as the largest indoor resort in Macao. The interior of the building is divided into vast spaces, and it’s easy to get lost inside.

“‘Boys Over Flowers’, The Venetian as Gu Jun-pyo’s Resort”

It even made an appearance in the hugely popular drama “Boys Over Flowers.” It was featured as the resort owned by Gu Jun-pyo, the male protagonist. Additionally, the free shuttle buses operated by large hotels in Macao were also introduced in the drama.

I heard that the production team of the drama put in tremendous effort and time to convince The Venetian resort for its appearance.

The Venetian resort is a place that can be considered as one of the representative resorts in the Cotai area of Macao. If you visit Macao, you should definitely visit this resort.
