Hongdae, Seoul: Alien Dance Studio

Recently, “K-POP” has gained global popularity. Through “BTS,” Korean music has left a lasting impression on people worldwide, and various Korean dramas and movies have secured top spots in Netflix’s popularity rankings. As a result, South Korea is steadily establishing itself as a powerhouse in culture and content.

Thanks to this Hallyu wave, the demand from foreign students wanting to experience Korean dance classes has also increased.

“Seoul Hongdae: Alien Dance Studio”

In Hongdae, a neighborhood that exudes the youngest vibes in Seoul, you can find several places to experience “K-POP Dance” and take classes. One such place I visited is the “Alien Dance Studio,” which is also a dance academy located in Hongdae.

The Alien Dance School is situated on the 3rd floor of a building with the phrase “Korean Blood Brotherhood” written on it. The phrase written in Chinese characters gives off a particularly powerful impression. The word “Brotherhood” itself is already strong, and being written in Chinese characters makes it even more intense.

“A Place for Teaching, Learning, and Feeling Passion for Dance”

The Alien Dance School is a space filled with people learning, teaching, and enjoying dance. It provides a space where you can practice and teach dance.

Aspiring trainees hoping for a professional debut have nurtured their dreams here. Even currently famous girl group members once honed their dance skills here.

“K-POP” is currently very popular overseas. As a result, there is a trend of people abroad wanting to learn about Korean dance, entertainment, and training culture. However, it’s not just foreigners who are interested. It’s also a space that Koreans are curious about. When I visited, I saw trainees waiting for the next session, eager to learn and practice dance.

“Hong Kong Youth Association, K-POP Dance Experience”

The reason for visiting the “Alien Dance Academy” this day was simple. It was because students from the “Hong Kong Youth Association” who had visited South Korea wanted to experience “K-POP Dance.”

Thanks to this, I was able to witness firsthand the instructors guiding students who came to experience K-POP dance from Korea. The class lasted about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Despite the short time, it was impressive to see students enjoying the class, keeping up well, and producing a decent result.

“View of Hongdae Area from the Building Rooftop”

If you go up to the rooftop of the building, you can enjoy the view of the Hongdae area from a fairly high vantage point. Since there are few places to look down from the rooftops of buildings in the Hongdae area, most people enjoy coming up here, as I heard from the owner.

Seeing their passionate yet enjoyable approach to their work, I thought that the students could also receive positive energy through the owner.

From the outside, it may seem like a place where you might not know what it’s like, but inside, it’s a space where you can find people running towards their dreams with passion.
