Ansan Jungang-dong: Jeju-themed Concept Cafe ‘Rendezvous’

Rendezvous, a South Korean cafe chain, opened its first branch in March 2018. The name “RENDÉJÀ-VOUS” is a combination of the French words “Rendezvous,” meaning meeting, and “Déjà vu,” meaning a sense of familiarity. It signifies that it’s a first encounter, yet feels familiar. Starting with the first branch in Hongdae, it now has 43 chain locations nationwide.

The cafe’s concept is centered around the nature of Jeju Island. It’s an Instagram-friendly space overall, featuring a large mirror photo zone where you can capture memorable moments.

You can also find “Rendezvous” in Ansan Jungang-dong, which, similarly, is designed with the theme of Jeju Island’s natural beauty.

Stepping into Rendezvous gives you the feeling of entering a new place. The interior is adorned with stone walls reminiscent of those found on Jeju Island, and the decked path, along with views of Hyeonmuam Rock, creates an atmosphere rarely experienced in regular cafes.

It provides a sense of being on Jeju Island without actually having to visit, making it an excellent alternative for those who may not have the financial or time resources for a trip to Jeju.

“Signature Drink: Rendezvous”

Here, you’ll find unique beverages. The signature drink, “Rendezvous,” is served not in a typical cup, but in a container resembling a lotion bottle. Vanilla latte is poured into this bottle, offering a sight of the beverage presentation that is not commonly seen, providing a small yet delightful experience.

The space is quite spacious, and each area is decorated with slightly different concepts. It’s a great place to visit when thoughts of a Jeju Island trip come to mind.
