Tokyo Akihabara Figure Shop “Kotobukiya (コトブキヤ)”

Akihabara in Tokyo is a haven for Japanese subculture, featuring numerous stores selling various subculture products. Among these stores, “Kotobukiya” is recognized as one of the prominent ones.

“Japanese Model Maker, Kotobukiya (コトブキヤ)”

Kotobukiya is one of the Japanese model maker companies. Starting as a company primarily focused on figures, it is currently the second-largest figure company in Japan, following Bandai, which is considered the largest. Especially when Kotobukiya first entered the figure market, its products stood out for their consistently high quality compared to figures from other companies.

“Selling a Variety of Products Related to Animation”

Kotobukiya has an offline store in Akihabara. The store not only sells products created by Kotobukiya but also offers a variety of products produced by other companies. While the overall quality of products at Kotobukiya is generally higher compared to other stores, the prices are also somewhat higher to match the quality.

“Multi-Floor Store”

The store is spread across multiple floors. The first floor primarily features popular products that appeal to a broader audience. You can find character products from well-known works such as Totoro, Super Mario, and Pokémon.

As you ascend to higher floors, you’ll discover products with more niche and enthusiast themes. During my visit, I purchased the “Super Mario Cushion” that transforms into a cushion and neck pillow, which I had seen on the first floor.

Among the stores in Akihabara, Kotobukiya stood out for exhibiting many unique and impressive products. It was a place where you could find a wide range of interesting items.
