Seoul Gwanghwamun Bakery & Cafe ‘Wood & Brick The K Twin Tower Branch’

“Wood & Brick,” a bakery that doubles as a brunch cafe in the Gwanghwamun area of Seoul, has its own long-standing history. Established in 1987, it has been operating with the motto of an authentic European-style healthy bakery. There are two “Wood & Brick” locations in the Gwanghwamun area – one to the west, based on Gwanghwamun Square, and the other to the east. The one visited this time is the ‘Wood & Brick The K Twin Tower Branch.’

The ‘Wood & Brick The K Twin Tower Branch’ is situated in the large building known as ‘The K Twin Tower.’ Being located on the 1st floor makes it relatively easy to find. Notably, the famous cafe ‘Tera Rosa’ also occupies the same building.

Wood & Brick started its tradition in Gwanghwamun in 1987. The original main store was reportedly located where the current Four Seasons Hotel stands. However, when the Four Seasons Hotel opened, the main store closed. The new location, including the Gwanghwamun branch, opened in the alley across from the Four Seasons Hotel.

The main store is now situated near Anguk Station in Bukchon Hanok Village. Including the main store and the Gwanghwamun branch, Wood & Brick has a total of five stores in Seoul.

“High Ceiling, Clean Atmosphere Bakery”

The ‘Wood & Brick The K Twin Tower Branch’ has a high ceiling, creating a spacious and open feeling. Despite being indoors, it doesn’t feel cramped. The interior is adorned with a European sensibility, staying true to the concept of Wood & Brick, incorporating wood and brick in the decor.

Various bread is displayed in the bakery, offering more than just bread. They also serve coffee, beverages like Americano, and even brunch menus. It’s a place where you can not only buy bread but also have a simple meal.

“A Clean and Charming Atmosphere”

The overall atmosphere is clean and charming. Ordering a cup of tea and sitting by the window, looking outside, is a pleasant way to spend time. It’s a place to find leisure in the midst of daily life, and it gives off a feeling as if momentarily being in Europe, even though your body is in Korea.

It’s a great place to purchase bread, enjoy a cup of coffee or a beverage, and have a simple meal.
