Incheon Airport – Tokyo Narita Airport Departure Procedure

From February 24th to February 28th, 2018, I embarked on a sudden 4-night, 5-day trip to Tokyo, Japan. The journey was unplanned, initiated by my brother who was on a business trip in Japan. Although he had already arranged accommodation, I hastily purchased air tickets upon hearing the suggestion to join him if I had the time.

“Incheon Airport – Narita Airport Route”

There are two main routes from Seoul to Tokyo: “Gimpo Airport – Haneda Airport” and “Incheon Airport – Narita Airport.” While the “Gimpo Airport – Haneda Airport” route is more convenient in terms of the route, I couldn’t secure tickets in time, leading me to opt for the relatively more available “Incheon Airport – Narita Airport” route. Despite the urgency, the airfare was around 500,000 won, relatively expensive due to the last-minute booking.

I eventually departed for Tokyo using Jeju Air’s route from Incheon Airport Terminal 1 to Narita Airport Terminal 3.

“Things to Do at Incheon Airport”

Before this Japan trip, here’s a sequential list of tasks at Incheon Airport:

  1. Exchange yen at Shinhan Bank (pre-application through Shinhan Bank mobile app facilitates instant pickup).
  2. Collect Japan Wi-Fi (purchased from Play Wi-Fi at 2,500 won per day).
  3. Airline ticketing and luggage check-in.
  4. Security check and departure screening.
  5. Duty-free shopping (received items purchased from Lotte Internet Duty-Free at the delivery counter).
  6. Boarding the aircraft.

For local internet during this Japan trip, I opted for using “Wi-Fi,” a prevalent choice in Japan compared to local SIM cards. The price was reasonable at 2,500 won per day.

Following these steps in order, I had a leisurely boarding experience for the Tokyo-bound flight, marking the beginning of a 4-night, 5-day Tokyo adventure.
