“The Fastest Route Connecting Tokyo City Center and Narita Airport – Skyliner”
Among them, the fastest route from Tokyo city center to Narita Airport is the line operated by Keisei called the ‘Skyliner.’ This dedicated line connects Ueno in Tokyo to Narita Airport in just 41 minutes, offering high-speed train service.
However, the Skyliner boasts a higher fare, given its speed. The one-way fare from Ueno Station to Narita is around 2,470 yen, approximately 25,000 won.
The company operating the Skyliner is the “Keisei Group,” a Japanese company that operates railways, buses, and more.
“Keisei Skyliner Route”
The Keisei Skyliner route includes only four stops: “Ueno – Nippori – Airport 2 Building – Narita Airport Station.” This makes it the fastest means of transportation to the mentioned stops.
While it is faster than the JR’s “Narita Express,” it is relatively cheaper for a one-way ticket. However, for foreign travelers, the Narita Express offers a round-trip ticket for 4,000 yen, making it more economical for round trips.
“Boarding the Train at Ueno Station”
Our group had purchased Skyliner tickets online before the trip. Therefore, we could easily exchange the e-tickets for physical tickets by showing them on our phones at the counter.
After obtaining the tickets, we boarded the train at the scheduled time, ensuring a smooth journey to Narita Airport. Boarding is straightforward; check the train number and seat number on the ticket, board the train, and take your seat. Similar to subway systems, you need to pass through the ticket gate before entering the train platform, inserting your ticket to pass.
“Use Ueno Skyliner Station, Not Ueno Station.”
One thing to be cautious about is that to use the Skyliner, you must use Ueno Skyliner Station, not Ueno Station. This station can be found outside Ueno subway station, right in front of the entrance to the park.
