Tim Ho Wan, Hong Kong Restaurant in Seoul Yongsan Station

Tim Ho Wan is a dim sum chain from Hong Kong known as the “world’s cheapest Michelin-star restaurant”. It later expanded as a chain worldwide and now has franchise locations in 12 countries, including South Korea.

“Seoul Yongsan Dim Sum Restaurant, Tim Ho Wan”

Tim Ho Wan is famous in Hong Kong as a top dim sum restaurant. It gained recognition particularly for its location in Hong Kong’s IFC Mall. Personally, I visited it during my trip to Hong Kong in 2019. It was located in the underground of the Hong Kong IFC Mall, which made it a bit challenging to find.

I happened to come across “Tim Ho Wan” while visiting Yongsan Station for other reasons. Remembering the taste from my previous visit in Hong Kong, I decided to give it a try. Similar to my experience in Hong Kong, I had to wait in line for a bit.

However, there was a difference. In Hong Kong, the lines were long due to the absence of a digital system. The staff distributed paper order sheets in advance. In Yongsan, on the other hand, you could receive a waiting number by entering your contact information on a digital device.

“Experience Hong Kong Cuisine at Tim Ho Wan”

While Tim Ho Wan in Seoul offers slightly different menu options compared to the one in Hong Kong, you can still enjoy similar flavors. Since it’s renowned for its dim sum, I ordered various dim sum dishes along with other items. However, the Tim Ho Wan in Yongsan felt quite different from the one in Hong Kong.

“Where Can You Find the Cheapest Michelin-star Restaurant?”

Tim Ho Wan is famously known as the “world’s cheapest Michelin-star restaurant”. This was indeed the case for the Tim Ho Wan I visited in Hong Kong. It offered delicious and satisfying meals at affordable prices.

However, the Tim Ho Wan in Yongsan seemed to be a bit different. It appeared to be more of an expensive Chinese restaurant. The taste of the food was not quite the same as having it in the actual location in Hong Kong. It seemed like it would cost quite a bit to have a fully satisfying meal here. It even made the good memories from Hong Kong feel somewhat distant.

Nevertheless, especially in these times when travel is not as easy due to COVID-19, you can still experience a taste of overseas travel with a meal here. If you’re craving Hong Kong cuisine near Seoul’s Yongsan Station, it’s worth a visit. However, be prepared for the price difference from Tim Ho Wan in Hong Kong before you go.
