On July 27, 1999, Starbucks landed in South Korea by opening its first store in front of Ewha Womans University. Initially, there were controversies due to coffee being more expensive than meals, but now Starbucks has firmly established itself in South Korea.
Starbucks can be found in major cities, easily accessible in Seoul, and also in locations where many people gather, such as outlets in provincial areas.
“Starbucks at Paju Shinsegae Premium Outlet”
At the Shinsegae Premium Outlet, one of the representative outlets in Paju, you can find Starbucks. Initially, there was only one on the 3rd floor, but upon a recent visit, it was confirmed that Starbucks has also opened on the 1st floor.
The original Shinsegae Premium Outlet was smaller in scale than its current form. It consisted of only one main building, but now with the addition of a space connected from the 1st floor to the basement, the outlet space has expanded even further. With this expansion, it naturally became a more popular destination, leading to the presumed opening of another Starbucks.
“Starbucks on the 1st Floor of Shinsegae Premium Outlet”
The Starbucks now located on the 1st floor was likely a space that was previously used for selling pizzas and bread. However, its purpose has now completely changed, and Starbucks now occupies the space.
It’s a bit disappointing that the bakery where you could buy pizzas at an affordable price is gone. Nevertheless, thanks to this change, you can now spend time at Starbucks on the 1st floor without having to go up to the 3rd floor.
Since I visited on the weekend, it was naturally crowded with many people. The scale is quite spacious, and there are plenty of tables, making it a great place to take a break and rest your tired body while shopping.
