Siheung Lake Park “Mulwang Reservoir (Mulwang Lake)”

Siheung has a place called Mulwang Reservoir. It’s a place that provides a unique sense of comfort, resembling a lake with water. Unlike fully developed parks like Ilsan Lake Park or Gwanggyo Lake Park, it exudes a raw, untouched feel, which in turn, makes it even more calming. It has its own charm as it’s not completely transformed into a park.

“A Great Place for Family Outings, Mulwang Lake”

Mulwang Reservoir or Mulwang Lake is an excellent place for family outings. The area around the lake is dotted with restaurants and cafes, creating a pleasant atmosphere for strolling. If there’s any drawback, it’s that, unlike other lake parks, it’s not fully developed, so at night, you can only see the scenery around the lake, making it difficult to appreciate the lake itself.

“Once Known as Heungbu Reservoir, Now Mulwang Reservoir”

Mulwang Reservoir was completed in 1946. At that time, it spanned across the administrative areas of Siheung and Bucheon, and was also known as “Heungbu Reservoir.” Now it’s called Mulwang Lake or Mulwang Reservoir, and has become the largest freshwater lake in Siheung and a representative relaxation spot.

In particular, it’s said to be famous for fishing, being close to Seoul. In the late 1950s, it’s even said that former President Syngman Rhee built a private fishing spot here and visited frequently.

“Close to Mokgam New Town, Mulwang Reservoir”

Mulwang Reservoir is close to Mokgam New Town. Especially for those living in Mokgam New Town, it’s a great place to visit. With the lake in between, it’s a great place for a leisurely walk around, and there are plenty of cafes and restaurants offering delicious food, making it a good place for outings.

It’s also a nature-friendly space where you can take a walk along the calm park, clear your thoughts, and cool off your head.
