Gwangmyeong Cheolsan-dong Rice Straw Pork Belly Restaurant “Ssaltan”

Around Gwangmyeong Cheolsan Station’s Rodeo Street, you’ll find a variety of restaurants lined up. It has the typical appearance of a jar-shaped commercial district, forming a business district around Cheolsan Station, surrounded by residential areas. Especially with many high-rise apartments, it attracts a considerable population.

In the vicinity of Cheolsan Station, you can find various barbecue restaurants, and there are some that differ slightly from typical ones. This restaurant uses rice straw to grill the meat, which can be simply referred to as “Rice Straw Pork Belly”.

Grilling the meat with rice straw removes various unwanted odors and reduces cholesterol, enhancing the flavor with the added scent of the straw.

They use aged meat, which sets them apart from other barbecue restaurants, offering a distinctive taste. Another good point is that you don’t have to grill the meat yourself. When you place an order, a staff member comes and grills the meat for you, allowing you to comfortably enjoy well-cooked meat.

“Complimentary Kimchi Soup Served”

When you order meat, you’ll receive steamed egg and kimchi soup as a standard, and the taste of the kimchi soup is exceptionally good. It gives a special feeling that it tastes much better when eaten with kimchi soup compared to having it with soybean paste stew. Therefore, personally, I don’t feel the need to order a separate soybean paste stew here.

The interior is also relatively simple, and the space is quite spacious, allowing about 30 people to dine simultaneously.

As a barbecue restaurant that can be found in the commercial district near Gwangmyeong Cheolsan Station, it’s a great place to visit with friends or family to grill meat and have a chat.
