On July 27, 1999, Starbucks landed in South Korea by opening its first store in front of Ewha Womans University. Initially, there were controversies due to coffee being more expensive than a meal, but now Starbucks has firmly established its presence in South Korea. Becoming a global company following McDonald’s, Starbucks created a new global index, the Starbucks Index, following the Big Mac Index.
Now, Starbucks stores can be easily found in major urban areas across South Korea. Especially in Seoul’s central areas, you can observe Starbucks stores densely located.
“Starbucks in Seoul Sinchon”
In Sinchon, there are several Starbucks locations, and among them, the closest to Sinchon Intersection is the ‘Starbucks Sinchon Intersection Branch.’ (You can also find a Starbucks store in the basement of Hyundai Department Store Main Branch, making them relatively similar in terms of distance.)
Starbucks Sinchon Intersection Branch is located about a 1-minute walk from Sinchon Station towards the Gyeongui Line Forest Road direction.
“A Two-Floor Starbucks Store”
This Starbucks branch is situated in a two-floor space. The first floor has the counter for ordering and pickup, and some seats are available.
Upon going to the second floor, you’ll notice more seating options, surprisingly spacious. Perhaps because Sinchon is an area with many university students, there are also work tables suitable for using laptops in the center.
From the window seats, you can enjoy the view of Sinchon’s street, making it a nice place to spend quiet moments.
