Seoul Sajikdan Cafe ‘Yang Cafe Plant’

As you walk west from Gyeongbokgung Station in Seoul, you’ll come across Sajikdan. Sajikdan is still under restoration, making it somewhat less visited since the restoration isn’t complete yet. Consequently, even though it’s in the heart of Seoul, it exudes a relatively quiet atmosphere.

Generally, when you think of Seochon Village, you envision an area west of Gyeongbokgung and north from Gyeongbokgung Station. It’s indeed a charming place with various restaurants and cafes, each uniquely decorated, lining the narrow alleys.

On the border between Seochon Village and the Gwanghwamun Business District, there’s a cafe standing alone along the main road. It goes by the name ‘Yang Cafe Plant,’ and judging by the name alone, it gives off an atmosphere as if you might see sheep at the cafe. You might expect to see “sheep” based on the cafe emblem, but in reality, there are no sheep at the cafe. The connection between “sheep” and the cafe remains a mystery, but that’s what this place called ‘Yang Cafe Plant’ is about.

“A Cafe Tucked Away in a Quiet yet Somewhat Unexpected Location”

‘Yang Cafe Plant’ can be described as a cafe relatively tucked away in a quiet location, and on the other hand, it’s somewhat unexpectedly situated. It’s a charming place where you can find a cafe where you least expect it.

They sell basic coffee like espresso and Americano. There’s also a representative menu called “Infusing Black,” a coffee made by infusing freshly blended and roasted beans with a hand-dripping process.

“A Decent Place for a Brief Rest”

The store isn’t particularly spacious, and the seating can accommodate about 10 people at once. Nonetheless, it’s a place where you can spend a short time without feeling crowded.

You can observe a large roasting machine in one corner of the store. Finding a cafe that roasts its own beans is rare, and at this place, they conduct the roasting process themselves, allowing you to taste a more profound coffee.

Located west of Gyeongbokgung, near Sajikdan, this cafe stands out as a somewhat unexpected place. It’s a good spot to visit when you want to enjoy a quality cup of coffee.
