In Japan, you can enjoy special and unique shows that you might not find in other countries, and one such show involves performances with Japanese monkeys.
While I didn’t intentionally visit to watch a monkey show, I happened to witness one on my way down from the Tsutenkaku Observatory in Osaka’s Shinsekai area.
“Monkey Show at Osaka Shinsekai, Tsutenkaku Performance Venue”
The Shinsekai area in Osaka is located a bit southeast from Dotonbori. Tsutenkaku is a tower with an observatory, inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris, offering panoramic views of southern Osaka.
In the underground section of the Tsutenkaku Observatory, there are souvenir shops and a small performance venue. It was in this small venue that a monkey show was taking place.
“Spontaneously Witnessing the Monkey Show”
It was a chance encounter with a monkey show, and it seemed like the show had just begun. I took the opportunity to capture some footage with my phone since it was my first time seeing a monkey performance, making it quite fascinating.
While it would have been great to leisurely watch the show from start to finish, I was in the midst of exploring the Osaka area with my newly acquired travel pass. Therefore, I couldn’t spend an extended period enjoying the performance. Thanks to the pass, I only managed to record about three minutes of the show.
Although short, it was a free and memorable performance. Since it was my first time witnessing a monkey show, the experience left a lasting impression.
