After completing the departure inspection at Narita Airport, we entered the duty-free area, marking the final leg of our journey. During a previous Tokyo trip, we departed from Terminal 3.
Terminal 3, at that time, was relatively quiet, with only about 5-6 stores in the duty-free area, giving it a somewhat empty feeling. However, we managed to purchase some commemorative items from a duty-free shop named “Akihabara,” specializing in Japanese animation character products, before departing.

“Diverse Shops at Narita Airport Terminal 1 Duty-Free Area”
The duty-free shops at Narita Airport Terminal 1 had a completely different atmosphere compared to Terminal 3. It was much more spacious, with a variety of stores.
Similarly, there was a store named “Akihabara,” offering character products related to manga and animation, as well as selling Japanese dolls. Additionally, they sold the famous Japanese chocolate, Royce Chocolate. This diversity allowed us to purchase various souvenirs.
“Royce Chocolate – A Great Gift”
Especially, Royce Chocolate was an excellent gift option. We bought a piece of chocolate and a relatively inexpensive Totoro doll compared to other stores. Shopping at the duty-free shop was indeed appealing price-wise.
The Totoro doll we purchased here was a character product that could also be used as a small bag. Although it couldn’t hold many items, it served well for storing small cards or souvenirs received during the Japan trip.
“Stores Accepting Card Payments”
In duty-free shops, payments could be made not only in cash but also by card. Since we were a bit short on cash, we paid with cash first and then used the card to settle the remaining balance, concluding our souvenir shopping.
This place marked the end of our short but intense 4-night, 5-day trip to Japan. Thus, our Tokyo journey came to a close.
