Lion’s Pavilion Observatory at Victoria Peak, Hong Kong

The area around Victoria Peak is accessible by taking the Peak Tram. Here, you can explore various shopping malls and observatories, making it one of the go-to spots for enjoying the stunning Hong Kong skyline.

Victoria Peak is situated on a high point in the mid-levels of Hong Kong Island, providing a vantage point to overlook the city.

“Three Viewpoints to Explore at Victoria Peak, Hong Kong”

In the vicinity of Victoria Peak, you can find three viewpoints. Among them, two are free to access, while the other requires an admission fee. The types of viewpoints are as follows:

  1. Peak Tower “Sky Terrace 428” (Paid)
  2. Lion’s Pavilion (Free)
  3. Gallery Viewpoint (Free)

During this visit, I intended to explore all three viewpoints, but unfortunately, I couldn’t visit Gallery Viewpoint. The shopping mall where the Gallery Viewpoint is located was undergoing construction and therefore was not open to the public.

“The Free Viewpoint at Victoria Peak: Lion’s Pavilion”

Lion’s Pavilion is a free viewpoint at Victoria Peak. It can be found on the eastern side of the Peak Tower building, adjacent to the Peak Tram station.

Since it is a free viewpoint, there are no ticket checkers, allowing quick and easy access. Additionally, as most people tend to head to the paid viewpoint, “Sky Terrace 428,” Lion’s Pavilion sees relatively fewer visitors, providing a pleasant environment.

Of course, its height is lower compared to the Sky Terrace 428 viewpoint at Peak Tower, but it still offers an ample view of Hong Kong’s skyline. Being at a reasonably high point allows for an even more captivating view.

“Suddenly Crowded with Tour Groups”

It seemed that even travel agencies believed that enjoying the view from Lion’s Pavilion, which is free, might be better than going to the Sky Terrace 428 at the top of Peak Tower. I observed tour groups led by travel agencies suddenly arriving at this spot.

Personally, I found that Lion’s Pavilion, being both free and easily accessible, provided a more enjoyable experience for taking in the nighttime scenery. From the perspective of someone who has traveled extensively, choosing this spot among various viewpoints might be considered quite natural.

This is a place where you can enjoy Hong Kong’s million-dollar night view from a free viewpoint.
