“Jeon Myung-yoon: ‘Question Journey Guided by Thoughts’”

There was a time when India travel gained attention, largely due to the influence of a personality named Hanbiya. She compiled her various travel experiences into a book, made appearances on television, and stirred up a buzz across Korea.

Of course, after hearing Hanbiya’s stories and experiencing challenges while traveling solo in difficult places like India, there was a period where India travel lost its appeal. However, from the late 2000s to the early 2010s, India travel gained popularity.

“India Travel: A Once Declining Trend”

However, India hasn’t been a prominent travel destination since then. The emergence of budget airlines and the introduction of new routes led to Southeast Asia becoming a more popular and cost-effective destination. Additionally, India’s classification as a risky destination for travel also played a role.

“A Journey of Questioning Guided by Thoughts”

The book “Question Journey Guided by Thoughts” discusses India travel. It is written by a person using the pen name Hwanta and is a collaborative effort with Korean Air.

At first glance, the title might suggest a philosophical exploration where one can find answers to life’s questions when traveling to India. However, upon closer inspection, it primarily serves as a guidebook highlighting places worth visiting in India.

“Introduction to India’s Regions, Culture, and History”

This book doesn’t just list tourist destinations in India. Unlike the travel information-focused books dominating bookstores today, older travel pamphlets often featured the author’s experiences and photos.

“Stimulating Sensibility Travelogue”

While the number of people visiting India has increased, it remains a mysterious destination for many. It boasts a unique and independent lifestyle, with a blend of charm and curiosity.

“India: A Land with Scheduled Power Outages”

According to the book, India still experiences chronic power shortages. Scheduled power outages are common, with each area allocated specific blackout times.

“Indian Cinema, Bollywood”

Similar to Hollywood in the United States, India’s film industry is commonly referred to as Bollywood. Theaters in India often screen Indian films, known for their long durations. Many films last over three hours, leading to screenings during daylight hours.

“Jodhpur: The Stage of ‘Finding Mr. Kim Jong-wook’”

The popular drama and play “Finding Mr. Kim Jong-wook” was set in Jodhpur, India. Although unfamiliar with the production, knowing that a famous work was set in India’s Jodhpur piqued my interest.

While this book is short and light, it doesn’t focus solely on providing concrete information about traveling in India. Instead, it stimulates curiosity about India travel and evokes nostalgia for the travel essay format, potentially inspiring a desire to explore.
