Jeju Seogwipo Galchi Restaurant “Negeri Sikdang”

In Seogwipo’s “Arang Jo-eul Street,” you can find a variety of restaurants. Arang Jo-eul Street is a kind of food alley that you can find in various places in Seogwipo, Jeju. Here, you can find a variety of restaurants, making it a good place to visit and choose a restaurant you like if you plan to have a meal in the Seogwipo area.

Among them, the place I visited this time is called “Negeri Sikdang,” a restaurant famous for dishes made with cutlassfish.

“Famous for Cutlassfish Dishes – Negeri Sikdang”

The food you can find at Negeri Sikdang is dishes made with. “cutlassfish.” You can find various. cutlassfish dishes including grilled. cutlassfish, braised cutlassfish, and. cutlassfish soup.

While grilled and braised cutlassfish are commonly heard menu items, cutlassfish soup was relatively unfamiliar. Since I had never tasted it before, I decided to order cutlassfish soup during my visit to Jeju.

“Jeju Cutlassfish Soup: KRW 15,000”

A serving of cutlassfish soup was KRW 15,000, which was relatively affordable compared to other menu items. Since I was traveling alone, a full course meal like grilled or braised cutlassfish might have felt a bit overwhelming, but with the soup, I could enjoy it at a reasonable price.

Cutlassfish soup is made with a white broth with ingredients like cabbage and pumpkin. Inside the soup, there were tender pieces of cutlassfish. Despite putting cutlassfish in the soup, I expected it might taste fishy or heavy, but the slightly spicy seasoning balanced these aspects impressively.

“Introduced on ‘Wednesday Food  Talk'”

Inside the restaurant, you can find signatures of various celebrities. You can even find the signature of President Moon Jae-in, indicating that he visited this place during his candidacy.

It was also introduced on the TV show ‘Wednesday Food Talk.’ Although I didn’t watch the broadcast, it seems that the restaurant was featured, especially focusing on cutlassfish dishes.

When you want to taste cutlassfish dishes in Jeju, this is a great place to visit. Especially, if you visit with a group, it’s good to try the full-course options like braised cutlassfish. If you visit alone, ordering single dishes like cutlassfish soup would be a good choice.
