Jang Blanc Jelée: Famous for Mammoth Bread near Seoul’s Nakseongdae Station

Near Nakseongdae Station, there is a renowned bakery known as “Jang Blanc Jelée.” Situated conveniently close to Exit 4 of Nakseongdae Station, this bakery has gained popularity for its signature item, the “Mammoth Bread,” known for its excellent value. Priced at only 7,000 KRW per loaf, Mammoth Bread boasts a substantial size of 1 kilogram and is characterized by its various fillings such as red bean and cream.

While Mammoth Bread is the flagship item at Jang Blanc Jelée, the bakery offers a variety of other delicious bread options as well. Visiting this bakery provides the pleasure of exploring a wide range of bread.

The overall size of the bread is quite substantial, yet the prices are relatively affordable considering the size. It’s likely that this factor has contributed to the bakery’s popularity.

“Purchasing Mammoth Bread”

While other bread can be purchased directly, Mammoth Bread requires waiting in line for a coupon. Coupons can be obtained by standing in the designated area before the bread is ready. (The line for Mammoth Bread is located near the main entrance and is easily noticeable.)

Previously, it seemed possible to purchase up to two loaves per person at a time, but now it appears to be limited to one loaf per person. However, this may vary depending on the number of customers waiting on a given day. On the day of my visit, it was still possible to purchase two loaves per person.

The price for one loaf of bread is 7,000 KRW, and each loaf weighs a whopping 1 kilogram. Therefore, even a single loaf provides a generously satisfying meal.

Here are the times when Mammoth Bread is available:

“A Bakery for Takeout Only”

While some bakeries now offer spaces for dining in, Jang Blanc Jelée is strictly takeout only. It’s important to keep this in mind.

Aside from Mammoth Bread, the bakery offers a variety of other large and delicious bread options. Even for someone like me, who isn’t particularly fond of bread, this bakery provides an opportunity to purchase and enjoy tasty options. If you’re looking for a delicious bakery near Nakseongdae, I highly recommend giving it a try.
