Incheon Chinatown, “Three Kingdoms Mural Street”

Incheon’s Chinatown offers a taste of Chinese culture and cuisine without the need to travel to China. Often referred to as a small China within Incheon, it stands out as a key tourist destination with a history of 130 years for the Chinese diaspora.

As Chinatown gained popularity, a new attraction was created along the walls of Jungsan School, known as the Three Kingdoms Mural Street.

“Based on the Content of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Three Kingdoms Mural Street”

The Three Kingdoms Mural Street is a stretch adorned with tile murals, based on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, a literary work by Na Gwan-jung. It depicts over 80 important scenes from the Three Kingdoms, providing explanations for each. Stretching approximately 150 meters, even those unfamiliar with the Romance of the Three Kingdoms can understand the storyline by viewing the murals.

Connected to Freedom Park, you can appreciate the Three Kingdoms Mural Street while walking down the street.

“Obstructed Three Kingdoms Mural Street Due to Illegal Parking”

While attempting to capture each mural along the Three Kingdoms Mural Street, some murals were unfortunately obstructed by illegally parked vehicles along the wall. With Chinatown emerging as a major tourist destination in Incheon, parking issues seem to have arisen. Resolving these parking issues could contribute to a more pleasant tourism experience.

Additionally, after reading posts from other bloggers, I initially thought there might not be many murals since only the entrance part of the Three Kingdoms Mural Street was often featured in photos. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the murals extend for a considerable length.

If this attraction was created for tourism purposes, it would be beneficial to manage it as a well-preserved destination for many visitors.

“How to Get to Three Kingdoms Mural Street”

The starting point of the Three Kingdoms Mural Street is at the end of the Cheongil Josajeok (Chinatown Border) Stairs. It is indicated behind the statue of Confucius. By climbing up to the end of the Cheongil Josajeok Stairs, you will naturally arrive at the starting point of the Three Kingdoms Mural Street.
