Emart Cafe ‘Starbucks’ at Emart Gyeongsan Branch

On July 27, 1999, Starbucks made its debut in South Korea with its first store located in front of Ewha Womans University. Initially, there were controversies due to coffee being more expensive than a regular meal. However, now Starbucks has firmly established its presence in South Korea. As a globally renowned dining corporation, it has taken its place alongside McDonald’s, creating a new global index known as the Starbucks Index, following the Big Mac Index.

Particularly, when Emart first entered the South Korean market, it is known that Chairman Jung Yong-jin of Shinsegae Group played a significant role. As a result, the majority of Starbucks Korea’s shares in South Korea are believed to be held by Shinsegae.

Thanks to this, it is easy to find Starbucks stores inside or near Emart stores. At Emart Gyeongsan Branch, you can also find a Starbucks located inside the Emart itself.

You can find the Starbucks at Emart Gyeongsan Branch right next to the Emart food court, “Selec the Table.” The store is not very large, so there aren’t many seats available for sitting. To put it in terms of tables, there are only about 10 seats in total, making it a very small-scale Starbucks store.

“Takeout-Focused Starbucks Store”

Perhaps, due to the nature of stores located inside Emart, most customers prefer to take out their orders. It’s a convenient spot to grab a drink before or after shopping. Especially since it’s located right next to the Emart food court, “Selec the Table,” it’s also a good idea to grab a coffee to go after finishing your meal and head back home.

This Starbucks is a small one that you can find inside Emart Gyeongsan Branch.
