Yeonhui-dong, Budget-Friendly Cafe: ‘Mega Coffee Yeonhui Branch’

Yeonhui-dong in Seoul has recently gained popularity among the MZ generation. As Yeonnam-dong rose to prominence, Yeonhui-dong, an original neighborhood with a similar vibe close to Yeonnam-dong, also garnered attention.

In fact, Yeonnam-dong is often referred to as the southern extension of Yeonhui-dong, hence the name “Yeonnam.” In that sense, Yeonhui-dong can be seen as the original neighborhood that embodies the “hip vibe of Yeonnam-dong.”

In Yeonhui-dong, there are two popular cafes like Starbucks. One can be found slightly south of Yeonhui Samgeori, which is considered the center of Yeonhui-dong. If you go a bit further northeast from here, you’ll find another Starbucks next to Yeonhui Elementary School.

Mega Coffee is one of the budget coffee brands that has been growing recently. It has aggressively marketed itself, even featuring world-renowned football star Son Heung-min as its model.

You can also find Mega Coffee in Yeonhui-dong, right across from Starbucks. It feels like Mega Coffee is directly challenging Starbucks, as both face each other across the street.

Mega Coffee Yeonhui Branch is a two-story café. The first floor has a counter and a kiosk, as well as seating. There are seats available with a view of the window.

Going up to the second floor, you’ll find more seating. The interior is decorated with large windows, providing a relatively refreshing and open atmosphere. However, on the other hand, the space is not as large as expected, and the tables are relatively narrow, making it a bit inconvenient for working on a laptop.

Especially, the distance to the person sitting next to you is quite close, so working on a laptop here might require extra attention.

Of course, thanks to Mega Coffee’s affordable coffee prices, it’s a good place to enjoy a cup of coffee without much burden and utilize the space. However, there remains a slight disappointment about the relatively tight use of space.
