The Tokyo Odaiba area is considered a must-visit destination in Tokyo travel, known for its diverse attractions. While there are numerous points of interest, this location also offers various shopping malls.
‘DiverCity,’ one of these malls, is particularly famous for featuring a life-sized Gundam behind the shopping complex rather than for the mall itself.

“DiverCity, A Place to Explore Diversity?”
The name ‘DiverCity’ is quite striking, possibly derived from the English word ‘Diversity.’ It suggests the ability to experience various activities in one place. Another interpretation could be a city for ‘divers’—people diving into something wholeheartedly, akin to a city immersed in diverse experiences.
“Shopping at Odaiba, DiverCity”
DiverCity lives up to its name by offering a variety of experiences. It can be described as a commercial space, similar to Seoul’s Yeongdeungpo Times Square in South Korea.
You can find various restaurants, shops, and unique spaces like the ‘Round 1’ arcade or ‘Gundam Base,’ a store dedicated to Gundam-related merchandise.

“Skateboard Park on the Building Rooftop”
If you go up to the rooftop on the 10th floor, you may find a skateboard park. Despite the late hour, I observed people enjoying skateboarding.
I personally visited the rooftop to enjoy the view, but unfortunately, it was obstructed by bars, preventing me from seeing the desired scenery.
I expected to see the life-sized Gundam from above when I went up to the rooftop, but it was not visible, leaving me with another sense of disappointment.
DiverCity is likely a place people naturally visit while exploring the life-sized Gundam in Odaiba. While it may receive less attention due to the Gundam, it has its own attractions to offer.
