Since 1962, Gongdeok’s Iconic Restaurant ‘Yukjeon Hoegwan’

Around Mapo and Gongdeok stations, you can find many restaurants steeped in history. Yukjeon Hoegwan is one such restaurant with a rich heritage.

Originally a small traditional Korean restaurant across from Yongsan Station, it later relocated near Gongdeok Station. This move was prompted by redevelopment around Yongsan Station, marking a transition for the restaurant. It has been operated continuously for three generations.

“Since 1962, Preserving a Long History”

While the name ‘Hoegwan’ originally referred to a hall in front of a train station, this meaning has somewhat faded since the relocation. Nevertheless, it still preserves its historical significance.

Due to its extensive experience in operating the restaurant over the years, Yukjeon Hoegwan earned recognition in the Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand category. It is also designated as a Future Heritage of Seoul.

“The Clean and Welcoming Atmosphere of the New Building”

With its move to the vicinity of Gongdeok Station, Yukjeon Hoegwan found a new home in a modern building. This transition from its humble beginnings has placed it in a more refined and clean environment. The spacious building and ample seating make it a great place for group dining.

“Spicy Grilled Beef & Stir-fried Octopus”

Yukjeon Hoegwan offers a diverse menu, ranging from set meals to à la carte options. The standout dish is the ‘Spicy Grilled Beef,’ characterized by finely chopped and thoroughly cooked meat, presenting a unique appearance reminiscent of a pancake.

During the visit, the Spicy Grilled Beef and Stir-fried Octopus were priced at 15,000 KRW each. Prices may have seen a slight increase due to inflation.

Given its inclusion in the Michelin Guide, Yukjeon Hoegwan offers a distinct taste that sets it apart from other establishments.
