Seoul Gwanghwamun Kimchi Jjim Restaurant ‘Gwanghwamun Hanok Jib’

The Gwanghwamun area in Seoul is considered a representative office-dense area in the city. It is known for housing various entities, including the Seoul Government Complex, embassies of different countries, media outlets, headquarters of major corporations, and offices of other small and medium-sized enterprises. When thinking about places where many companies gather, Gwanghwamun is likely the first location that comes to mind.

Given the high concentration of office workers in the area, you can find numerous restaurants and cafes catering to their needs nearby. Gwanghwamun Hanok Jib, located in the basement of the Sejong Club in the heart of Gwanghwamun, is one such restaurant in the Gwanghwamun area.

In the Gwanghwamun area, you can discover a variety of restaurants, both large and small. Places that offer quick and simple meals tend to be bustling during lunch hours but relatively calm during dinner. However, establishments offering heavier menus or a pleasant atmosphere may attract crowds even in the evening.

Gwanghwamun Hanok Jib falls into the latter category. With a substantial size and a menu more suitable for dinner, it stands out among the dining options in the Gwanghwamun area.

The signature dish is Kimchi Jjim, and in addition to that, various other dishes are available. Checking the menu, you can explore the diverse offerings at Gwanghwamun Hanok Jib. On this particular day, we visited to enjoy Kimchi Jjim, so three of us ordered the Kimchi Jjim set for three.

Among the many choices, we opted for the Daegwallyeong High Ground Kimchi Jjim Set for three. Although the individual portion is priced at KRW 17,000, making it somewhat burdensome for a lunch meal, it’s a reasonably priced option when you desire a slightly more upscale dining experience. Alongside the Kimchi Jjim, seven side dishes are provided. The main attraction is, of course, the Kimchi Jjim. Enjoying Kimchi Jjim with various side dishes provides a hearty and satisfying meal.

“A Korean-style Restaurant Adorned with Hanok Interior”

The reason Gwanghwamun Hanok Jib is named as such becomes apparent when you visit. The interior is decorated with traditional Hanok elements, creating a distinctly Korean atmosphere. This feature makes it an excellent place to showcase Korean culture, especially when entertaining foreigners. With a relatively large scale, the restaurant also has private rooms, making it suitable for business meetings.

The restaurant is conveniently located near Gwanghwamun Station Exit 1, west of Gwanghwamun Square, behind Sejong Cultural Center.
