Located at Samsung Station in Seoul, COEX is a hub for the MICE industry, serving as a versatile space for various exhibitions. It originated from the Korea Exhibition Centre (KOEX), established in 1979 for the purpose of showcasing Korean export products and hosting international expos. In 1997, it underwent expansion in preparation for the ASEM Summit, incorporating conference facilities and adopting the name “COEX.”
The current COEX was completed in May 2000 and, with its construction, took the title of the largest underground shopping mall in Asia from its Japanese predecessor.
“The Starfield Library at COEX”
In the heart of current COEX, you can find the Starfield Library. With the introduction of Starfield COEX Mall by Shinsegae in 2016, the name was changed to “Starfield COEX Mall,” adding another landmark to the COEX complex.
The Starfield Library opened on May 31, 2017, and has since become one of the prominent landmarks representing COEX.
“ANLE Coffee: A Cafe Inside COEX”
While visiting COEX, I happened upon a signboard that read “Red Bean Latte” and decided to visit the cafe with the name “ANLE Coffee.” I was curious about what a latte made with red beans would taste like.
ANLE Coffee can be found near the Starfield Library in COEX. If you head slightly southwest from the Starfield Library in COEX, you’ll come across it. However, due to the nature of COEX, which can be disorienting, it’s easy to get lost.
“A Cozy Cafe Ambiance”
ANLE Coffee exudes a sophisticated yet cozy atmosphere. They offer a variety of coffee and beverages, and also sell cream brulee donuts.
The price of a regular Americano, based on the tall size, is a reasonable 4,200 won. Among the offerings, the most notable was the Red Bean Latte, priced at 5,800 won for the tall size.
On this day, driven by curiosity, I ordered both a hot and an iced Red Bean Latte. They were not overly sweet, with just the right amount of sweetness added, which was to my liking.
“Red Bean Latte: 5,800 KRW”
I ordered one hot latte and one iced latte. They weren’t overly sweet as I had expected. They had a balanced sweetness, so it wasn’t bad at all.
Personally, whenever I come across unique food or drinks like this, I get an urge to try them at least once. On this day, I ventured into something new, and the result was not bad at all.
This cafe near the Starfield Library in COEX offers a refined yet comfortable ambiance. It’s a great place to visit COEX, have a light drink, and spend some time.
