Restaurants selling kongnamul gukbap (bean sprout rice soup) that operate 24 hours can be found in many places. Incheon Songdo is no exception. You can also find a kongnamul gukbap restaurant near the center of Incheon Songdo, around POSCO Tower and Songdo Convensia.

One such restaurant in Incheon Songdo is called ’24-Hour Jeonju Myeongga Kongnamul Gukbap.’ It’s a restaurant that can be commonly heard of not only in Songdo but also in other areas.

Since it specializes in kongnamul gukbap, the main menu is, of course, kongnamul gukbap. In addition to that, they also offer various other dishes like handmade pork cutlet, tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties), buchu yachaejeon (garlic chive vegetable pancakes), squid, mandu (dumplings), and more.

A bowl of kongnamul gukbap is priced at 6,000 KRW, which is quite reasonable considering the recent increase in prices. On this occasion, I visited in the morning for a quick breakfast and ordered kongnamul gukbap.

They provide basic side dishes and a raw egg. Depending on your preference, you can add the raw egg to the kongnamul gukbap. Especially with a generous amount of bean sprouts, it’s a comforting dish to have in the morning.

“24-Hour Kongnamul Gukbap, but…”

I’m not sure if they’re still operating 24 hours now, but during the period when I visited, it was a time when COVID-19 was prevalent, and they had shortened hours. I had actually visited the day before to have kongnamul gukbap around 10 PM, but they had already closed, so I had to come back the next morning.

The name of the place is ’24-Hour Kongnamul Gukbap,’ so I naturally expected them to be open 24 hours, which was a bit confusing. Perhaps, once the COVID-19 situation gets better and more stable, they will return to operating as a 24-hour gukbap restaurant like before.
