At the entrance leading up to Haengju Fortress, you can find various restaurants and cafes, each with its own unique charm. Among them, you can discover a distinctive cafe housed in a traditional Korean hanok.
“Haengju Fortress Hanok Cafe, Cafe Giwa”
The name of the hanok cafe you can find in front of Haengju Fortress is “Cafe Giwa.” The name itself aligns perfectly with the concept of a hanok cafe. While it may not be a completely traditional hanok building, it is a unique cafe with an interior designed in the style of a hanok, created by renovating a building that combines elements of both hanok and Western architecture.
With its hanok-style roof, it stands out even from a distance. If you’re deliberately coming out to Haengju Fortress to enjoy the view, it might be worth stopping by this unique cafe nearby.
“Order on the 2nd Floor, Enjoy Your Meal Wherever You Like…”
To place an order, head up to the 2nd floor of the cafe. You can find a menu offering both typical cafe items as well as special signature drinks like jujube tea and ssanghwa tea.
The 2nd floor is decorated in a modern style. After placing your order, you can take your drink to any spot you prefer. When you come down to the 1st floor, you’ll still be able to enjoy the view of the hanok, and you can choose a room to spend your time in.
There’s also seating available on the rooftop. From there, you can enjoy an expansive view. On a warm and breezy day, it would be a great place to spend some time. However, on the day we visited, the weather was quite chilly, so we opted to stay on the 2nd floor and enjoy a leisurely time.
It’s a great place to spend some time after exploring Haengju Fortress, and it’s conveniently located near the fortress.
