“Cafe ‘Matte Black’ in Seoul Jamsil, Lotte World Mall”

Lotte World Mall in Jamsil, Seoul offers a variety of shops, including distinctive cafes. Among these diverse establishments, a relatively recent addition is the unique cafe, Matte Black.

“2D Optical Illusion Cafe – Matte Black”

Matte Black is located on the 4th floor of Lotte World Mall. Previously occupied by ‘Susugarden,’ this space has been transformed, and now Matte Black occupies the spot.

Matte Black boasts a distinctive concept, designed to create a 2D optical illusion. Such cafes are not entirely new, with a similar concept found in Yeonnam-dong, specifically at the ‘Picture Cafe,’ known as the place where this concept gained attention.

Picture Cafe in Yeonnam-dong has not only been recognized locally but has also gained international attention, with some places officially adopting and incorporating the concept, leading to some controversies.

Matte Black, while sharing a similar concept, emits a slightly different atmosphere than the Picture Cafe in Yeonnam-dong.

“Immersed in a Cartoon-like Atmosphere Cafe”

As with other 2D optical illusion cafes, being in the space creates a feeling as if you’ve stepped into a comic book. Matte Black, too, with its unique concept, offers a distinct experience compared to other cafes.

Lotte World Mall in Jamsil tends to be crowded, especially on weekends and holidays, making it challenging to find available seats at cafes in the area. Matte Black is no exception, so securing a seat might be a bit challenging on weekends.
