Busan Songdo Beach: Songdo Sky Cable Car

Busan offers a variety of tourist attractions. Upon revisiting this time, I was able to see things that I couldn’t see when I previously traveled to Busan. One of these is the Songdo Sky Cable Car, which has been around for quite some time. However, back when I visited Busan a long time ago, it didn’t exist.

Thanks to this trip, I had the opportunity to ride the cable car that passes over Songdo Beach.

“Songdo Sky Cable Car”

The Songdo Sky Cable Car offers a view of Songdo Beach. It runs from Songdo Base Station to Songdo Sky Park, taking about 7-8 minutes one way.

Looking at the map, the distance is considerable, so it’s common to purchase round-trip tickets. If needed, one-way tickets can also be purchased on-site. However, it’s inconvenient that one-way tickets cannot be purchased online in advance and must be obtained on-site.

“Songdo Sky Park: Yonggung Cloud Bridge”

Upon boarding the cable car from Songdo Base Station, you can reach Songdo Sky Park. In Songdo Sky Park, you can explore the “Yonggung Cloud Bridge,” which is visible even while riding the cable car.

Admission to the Yonggung Cloud Bridge is not free. Individuals need to pay 1,000 KRW for entry, while groups are charged 800 KRW per person. Please note that groups are calculated for 10 or more people.

Although I didn’t have enough time in my travel itinerary to go inside the Yonggung Cloud Bridge and had to pass it by, the view from the cable car was so captivating that I didn’t feel a significant sense of regret for not exploring the bridge.

“Songdo Sky Cable Car Fees”

There are two types of Songdo Sky Cable Cars: the “Crystal Cruise” with a transparent floor, and the “Air Cruise” with a closed floor. The Crystal Cruise with the transparent floor is more expensive.

“Crystal Cruise”

  • Round Trip: (Adult) 20,000 KRW, (Child) 15,000 KRW
  • One Way: (Adult) 15,000 KRW, (Child) 12,000 KRW

“Air Cruise”

  • Round Trip: (Adult) 15,000 KRW, (Child) 11,000 KRW
  • One Way: (Adult) 12,000 KRW, (Child) 9,000 KRW

The cable car can accommodate up to 8 people at a time, and it seemed that they don’t allow strangers to ride together. This may be due to COVID-19 measures. As COVID-19 measures gradually fade away, I’m not sure how things will change. As of now, it seems they might try to fill each cable car with as many people as possible once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

The Songdo Sky Cable Car is surprisingly fast, providing a thrilling experience. It offers a different charm from the slow-paced Haeundae Sky Capsule, adding yet another exciting activity to enjoy.
