The Nampong-dong area in Busan is one of the standout places in the old downtown district. It’s home to the iconic Kkangtong Market and International Market, which were featured in the movie “Ode to My Father,” as well as the “BIFF Square” born from the Busan International Film Festival, the Book Alley in Bosu-dong filled with secondhand bookstores, and the Jagalchi Fish Market, where you can explore various attractions.
During this trip to Busan, after visiting Gamcheon Culture Village, often referred to as Busan’s Machu Picchu, we headed to the International Market for dinner. Among the eateries, we visited a restaurant named “조개가 달다” (“Flavorful Clams”), which specializes in dishes featuring clams.

As the name suggests, “Flavorful Clams” is a place where you can savor dishes made with clams. You can find dishes like grilled or steamed clams, and being located close to the seaside, you can enjoy fresh clams.
“Flavorful Clams” is situated not far from the International Market and BIFF Street in Nampong-dong, making it relatively easy to find. However, being a restaurant in an alley, finding parking space can be a bit challenging. Since the area is bustling, it’s recommended to plan for parking if you decide to bring a car.

At “Flavorful Clams,” you can find a variety of menu options, including set menus. The set menu is cleverly named “Swimming Clams” and “Steaming Clams.”
“Swimming Clams Set: KRW 52,000”
On this visit, we ordered the “Swimming Clams” set. Priced at approximately KRW 52,000 for one set, it’s a generous portion even for four people. The dish is characterized by a rich variety of ingredients, including clams, scallops, and octopus.
After enjoying the clam dish to some extent, you can add noodle toppings to make it a noodle dish. This time, we added udon toppings, and for a group of four, adding toppings for two people is sufficient, as the portions are quite generous.
“The Restaurant is Two Stories”
The restaurant is divided into two floors. There is seating available on both the first and second floors, with the impressive cherry blossom-themed decor. On the staircase wall leading to the second floor, you can see displayed animation figures. Perhaps the owner has a hobby of collecting figures.
“Wooden Interior”
The interior is constructed with wooden structures, exuding a nostalgic atmosphere. The overall ambiance of the restaurant is perfect for a romantic date night with subtle lighting.
When traveling in Busan, “Flavorful Clams” is a great place to visit for dinner, especially if you’re in the mood for dishes like grilled or steamed clams that you can savor by the seaside. The cozy atmosphere also makes it a great spot for a date night.
