Seoul Mapo Station Pyeongyang Cold Noodle Restaurant “Neungrado”

Neungrado is a restaurant that specializes in “Pyeongyang cold noodles.” They reinterpret the traditional mildly flavored Pyeongyang cold noodles in a modern style, adding a unique and rich broth, which has gained popularity.

You can find the original Neungrado location near Seopangyo, and they have expanded their business as a franchise, making it accessible in several locations. I recently visited Neungrado near Seoul Mapo Station for a gathering with friends.

“Neungrado, a Pyeongyang Cold Noodle Specialist near Mapo Station Exit 1”

You can find Neungrado near Exit 1 of Mapo Station on Subway Line 5. It’s conveniently located near the station, so it’s not difficult to find. The store is quite spacious with high ceilings, providing a comfortable and airy atmosphere.

The restaurant has many tables, allowing a large number of people to dine at once. It can accommodate over 80 people dining simultaneously.

At Neungrado, you can find various menu items such as Pyeongyang cold noodles, boiled pork slices (suyuk), and fish roe bibimbap. Please note that the prices mentioned are based on 2021, and they may have increased slightly.

“Pyeongyang Cold Noodles: 12,000 KRW”

The Pyeongyang cold noodles available at Neungrado can be considered their flagship menu. Unlike the commonly known mildly flavored Pyeongyang cold noodles, they’ve added a bit more flavor to the broth, creating a Pyeongyang cold noodle that suits modern tastes.

“Boiled Pork Slices (Suyuk): 35,000 KRW”

At Neungrado, you can also enjoy suyuk, in addition to the Pyeongyang cold noodles. If you order only the Pyeongyang cold noodles, you may find the portion of meat to be insufficient, so it’s a good idea to visit with a group and order suyuk to share and complement the meal.

“Fish Roe Bibimbap: 60,000 KRW”

The fish roe bibimbap available at Neungrado is priced at 60,000 KRW for a medium size, making it relatively expensive. If you order a bowl of Pyeongyang cold noodles along with it, it will add up to nearly 100,000 KRW for three people.

However, despite the price, it would be a shame to miss out on the fish roe bibimbap. The platter is piled high with meat, mushrooms, and vegetables. Especially on special occasions or events, ordering it to complement the Pyeongyang cold noodles is a great combination.

“Michelin Guide: Bib Gourmand”

Neungrado is a restaurant that made it to the Michelin Guide’s Bib Gourmand list, so it’s essentially a place where you can enjoy delicious food anytime. This reflects its reputation. However, if you feel that just having Pyeongyang cold noodles is a bit lacking, it’s recommended to visit with a group and enjoy dishes like suyuk or fish roe bibimbap.
