Seoul Jamsil, Acorn Forest ‘Totoro’ (Photo)

Acorn Forest is the official commemorative shop of Studio Ghibli, well-known for animations such as “My Neighbor Totoro” and “Spirited Away.” Since Studio Ghibli is located in Japan, these Ghibli souvenir shops are easily found all over Japan, but they are relatively hard to come by in South Korea.

You can find a few in Seoul, but there aren’t many. One of them can be found in Jamsil, Seoul, specifically on the basement floor of Lotte World Mall.

“Renewed Acorn Forest in Jamsil”

While passing through the Jamsil area by chance, I noticed that “Acorn Forest” seemed somewhat different from before. Totoro used to guard the entrance of the store, but it was shielded by glass, making it difficult to take photos. However, now they have removed the glass, allowing for even higher-quality commemorative photos.

Additionally, the cat bus that used to be there is now gone. The cat bus was also a great spot for taking commemorative photos, but it has been replaced by the “train” that appeared in “Spirited Away.”

Compared to the original cat bus, the impact may be somewhat subdued, but I captured a photo to document this evolving change.
