Seoul Gwanghwamun Japanese Restaurant “Dotori Brothers”

Near Gwanghwamun, you can find various delicious restaurants. To the west from Gwanghwamun Station, you can find an apartment complex called “Gyeonghuigung’s Morning.” If you venture into the alley behind it, you’ll discover a quiet neighborhood, almost like a residential area. Despite the expectation of few restaurants in this area, you can find several hidden ones, including the restaurant “Dotori Brothers.”

“Seoul Gwanghwamun Japanese Restaurant, Dotori Brothers”

Dotori Brothers is a restaurant that specializes in serving Japanese food. They offer various dishes like rice bowls and can be considered a place that sells home-cooked meals.

The restaurant’s interior, which seems to be a renovated single-story hanok (traditional Korean house), gives off an old-fashioned atmosphere, making it quite an impressive dining place.

“A Restaurant Crowded with Many People”

This place is always bustling with people. Especially during lunch hours, you can see many office workers waiting in line. Gwanghwamun is a representative office-dense area in Seoul, so it’s common to see numerous office workers coming out to have their meals during lunchtime. This place is no exception.

Even though our group visited a bit early, before noon, we still had to wait in line. Fortunately, the wait wasn’t too long, around 15 minutes or so.

“A Place Offering Various Japanese Dishes”

In the restaurant, you can find various Japanese dishes, particularly items like rice bowls.

In the past, the “Kyoto Steak” was particularly famous and popular, but when I visited this time, that menu had disappeared, replaced by something else. Although it was a bit disappointing to see the steak menu gone, the other dishes were still good.

The menu was priced at around 15,000 KRW per serving. The menu items available on that day were as follows:

  • Miyazaki Hot Chicken Donburi Set: 15,000 KRW
  • Miyazaki Chicken Donburi Set: 15,000 KRW
  • Golden Egg Salmon: 13,500 KRW
  • Avocado Golden Egg: 14,500 KRW
  • Large Intestine Rice Bowl: 14,500 KRW
  • Grilled Large Intestine Rice Bowl: 14,500 KRW
  • Avocado Mentaiko: 10,500 KRW
  • Avocado Natto: 10,500 KRW
  • Spinach Cream Carbonara: 13,800 KRW
  • Creamy Kimchi Carbonara: 13,800 KRW
  • Beef Belly Pasta: 13,000 KRW

“Miyazaki Chicken Donburi Set: 15,000 KRW”

The menu I ordered that day was the Miyazaki Chicken Donburi Set, priced at 15,000 KRW per serving. The dish was neatly presented, consisting of chicken, rice, soup, and side dishes. My companions ordered pasta dishes, and overall, the taste was quite good.

It’s a fitting place for a clean and satisfying meal. The restaurant is not very spacious, giving it a more authentic Japanese dining atmosphere. It’s a place where you can experience a Japanese ambiance in Gwanghwamun. When you’re in Seoul and craving food with a Japanese touch, it’s a good place to visit.
