Seoul Gwanghwamun Duck Meat Restaurant “Namuhyanggi Charcoal Grill”

The area around Gwanghwamun Station in Seoul can be considered a representative office-dense region. From the Seoul Government Complex to various embassies, press agencies, major corporate offices, and other small to medium-sized business buildings, it’s the first place that comes to mind when thinking about places in Seoul where many companies are gathered.

Due to the high number of office workers in this area, you can find restaurants, cafes, and other establishments catering to their needs scattered around.

“Namuhyanggi Charcoal Grill” is also a restaurant you can find in the Gwanghwamun area. It’s especially known for its meat dishes and is suitable for gatherings like company dinners or social meetings.

“Gwanghwamun Duck Meat Restaurant: Namuhyanggi Charcoal Grill”

Namuhyanggi Charcoal Grill is a restaurant you can find west of Gwanghwamun Square. If you come out of Exit 1 of Gwanghwamun Station on Subway Line 5 and head west, you’ll come across “Gwanghwamun Mido Apartment.” You can find this restaurant on the 1st floor of that building.

The scale of the restaurant is quite substantial. The interior is also clean, and there are seats separated by tables, creating a decent atmosphere for meetings. Despite being a meat restaurant, it emits a clean atmosphere. Upon visiting in person, you’ll see that it’s quite an atmospheric dining establishment.

The menu offers dishes commonly found in meat restaurants. In addition to pork belly, they also serve duck meat. Here are some of the main menu items and their prices:

  • Duck Charcoal Grill (for one): KRW 52,000
  • Additional half portion of Duck Charcoal Grill: KRW 26,000
  • Whole Pork Belly Charcoal Grill: KRW 15,000
  • Galbisal (Short Ribs) Charcoal Grill: KRW 15,000
  • Fragrant Assorted Charcoal Grill (Half Duck + Half Pork Belly + Short Ribs): KRW 58,000
  • Bulgogi (Marinated Beef): KRW 15,000
  • Hanwoo Yukhoe (Korean-style Beef Tartare): KRW 30,000

“Lunch Set Menu for 3 People: KRW 39,000”

Normally, it’s common to have grilled meat for dinner, but we visited at lunchtime. We ordered the lunch set menu for three people, which costs about KRW 13,000 per person. While this is relatively affordable for a meat restaurant, the portion of meat provided was quite ample.

We were served freshly grilled pork belly and duck meat. You can eat it as is, but grilling it again on the hot plate makes the meal even more delicious.

At first glance, the quantity doesn’t seem particularly large, but when you actually start eating, you’ll find that there’s more than you initially thought. This means you can have a satisfying meal without feeling hungry.

When you order a set menu, you can also order a “tang” (soup). On this day, we ordered “Duck Tang.” It’s a dish similar to dakgaejang (spicy chicken stew), but it’s made with duck instead of chicken.

“A Restaurant with a Relaxed Atmosphere”

While it doesn’t have an overly sophisticated atmosphere, it overall exudes a moderately refined feeling. You can enjoy meat dishes at a reasonable price here.

It’s a suitable place for a casual meeting, and it’s also a decent option for a group company dinner. Keeping this restaurant in mind may come in handy.
