The Gwanghwamun area is one of Seoul’s prominent office-dense areas. Thanks to this, you can find numerous restaurants and cafes in the area. You can find a variety of establishments, ranging from large franchise cafes to small and medium-sized ones.
This time, we visited “Hollys” Coffee, which belongs to the relatively large cafe category that you can find in the Gwanghwamun area.
“Seoul Gwanghwamun Cafe: Hollys Center Point”
Hollys Center Point is located west of Gwanghwamun Square. It’s conveniently located, sharing a street with the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, so it’s not hard to find. You can find it just behind the Sejong Center, and it’s also not far from Exit 1 of Gwanghwamun Station on Subway Line 5. In fact, when you come out of Exit 1 of Gwanghwamun Station, you’ll see Hollys Coffee right away.
“A considerably spacious store with an open atmosphere”
Hollys Center Point is of a considerable size. The building has high ceilings and is made entirely of glass, so there’s no sense of confinement at all. Instead, it has a cool interior that gives a feeling of openness.
Unlike the quaintness you might feel in smaller cafes, this place allows you to experience a refreshing sense of openness.
“A domestic coffee chain, Hollys Coffee”
Hollys Coffee is a franchise cafe characterized by its red crown and red doors. Just by looking at the image, it may seem like it’s operated by a large corporation, but it was actually founded by an individual who worked in the food industry. However, as of September 2020, it transitioned into a franchise operated by KG Group, a leading domestic company.
Hollys Coffee aims to provide “a space where anyone can enjoy coffee while relaxing.” To achieve this, they use beans that are roasted in-house. They also focus on marketing for the so-called “study cafe” trend, which involves people studying in cafes. They have set up the cafe in a quiet study-friendly format, complete with office tables, single tables, and library-style open tables.
“The menu at Hollys Coffee”
At Hollys Coffee, they sell various coffee menu items, including Americanos, as well as dessert menu items such as beverages and bakery items. The price for an Americano starts at 4,500 won per cup, which is not significantly different from Starbucks.
At Hollys Coffee Gwanghwamun Center Point, you can place your order through a kiosk. After placing your order through the kiosk, you will receive a call to the phone number you provided, and you can pick up your ordered drink.
Overall, with its high ceilings and open space utilizing glass, Hollys Coffee is optimized for tasks such as work, tasks, and studying. It’s a great place to spend time even if you’re here for work.
