The Gwanghwamun area in Seoul is known for being a densely populated office district, attracting numerous office workers. It’s a place where you can find various restaurants and cafes to meet the demands of these workers.
Amidst large franchise cafes like Starbucks and budget-friendly cafe brands like “Paikdabang,” there are also independently owned and uniquely charming cafes.
“Small Cafe in Gwanghwamun, ‘Coffee Choice’”
Coffee Choice is a small and distinctive cafe that you can find in the Gwanghwamun area. It is located on the first floor of the shopping complex in the morning area of Kyunghee Palace 3rd Complex. To find it, you need to venture inside the shopping complex, making it relatively inconspicuous. However, fortunately, it is right in front of the entrance, making it somewhat noticeable among the first-floor shops.
The cafe’s name is “Coffee Choice,” and if you look closely at the English, you’ll notice it’s written as “Choi’s,” not “Choice.” Speaking with the owner, they shared that when opening the cafe, it was named after friends with the last name “Choi” who co-founded it.
“Coffee and Beverages, Along with Simple Snacks”
The cafe offers various drinks, including simple coffee like Americano, and other diverse beverages. They also sell snacks, including salted bread and twisted doughnuts, making it a great place for a quick snack.
“A Small Shop with a Noticeably Unique Atmosphere”
The shop is not particularly spacious; it’s quite small, with only about four tables, making it impossible for many customers to sit at once. This structure might add to its uniqueness.
From the interior to the ambiance, the shop exudes a strong and memorable vibe, with an impressive neon sign as part of the decor. At a glance, one might mistake it for a wine bar rather than a cafe, given the distinctive interior.
Located in the shopping complex on the first floor of Kyunghee Palace’s morning area 3rd complex, it’s a hidden gem of a cafe in the Gwanghwamun area.
