For this trip to Gangneung, I chose a hotel located in Jeongdongjin. I planned to explore Gangneung city on the first day and the outskirts of Gangneung on the second day, so I decided to start the second day in Jeongdongjin.
“Jeongdongjin: Oasis Hotel”
The place I chose for accommodation in Jeongdongjin is called the Oasis Hotel. It’s not far from the Jeongdongjin Hourglass Park, and I selected it because it was reasonably priced.
Since it wasn’t peak season, I was able to stay for about 24,000 KRW per night. It can accommodate two people, so at this price, you can spend the night for almost 12,000 KRW per person. It’s safe to say that it’s a cost-effective option.
“A Cost-Effective Stay: Oasis Hotel”
The Oasis Hotel is situated on a hill. If you drive up the mountain path, you’ll find it. However, despite being named a “hotel,” the actual atmosphere is more like a “motel.”
You could say it has the feel of a rustic motel in the countryside, but it has everything you need for an overnight stay. Hot water comes out well, and they even provide Wi-Fi. The view from the window when you open it is not bad either, making it a good place to spend the night at a reasonable price.
“If You’re Thinking of a More Atmospheric Stay…”
However, if you’re looking for a more atmospheric stay rather than just cost-effectiveness, I recommend staying at the nearby “Sun Cruise Hotel & Resort.” It’s a hotel shaped like a cruise ship, which can be considered the landmark of Jeongdongjin. While it’s certainly more expensive than the Oasis Hotel, it undeniably offers a superior atmosphere.
Personally, I opted for a budget-friendly trip this time, so I stayed at an affordable hotel. The price was reasonable, and the facilities were satisfactory, making it a very satisfying trip.
