Even on this trip to Jeju Island, I chose to stay in Seogwipo. Personally, I find Seogwipo in the south to be more reminiscent of the true essence of Jeju Island compared to Jeju City, which houses the airport.
Moreover, accommodations in Seogwipo tend to be more affordable and offer better conditions compared to those in Jeju City. That’s why, personally, when visiting Jeju Island, I prefer staying in Seogwipo over Jeju City.
“Seogwipo Arangjoel Street”
Once you enter Seogwipo, you’ll come across Arangjoel Street. Here, you can explore various eateries in Seogwipo, making it a place often referred to as a foodie’s paradise, with numerous restaurants gathered in one place.
As it was approaching the time for a proper meal on this 1-night, 2-day trip to Jeju Island, I realized I hadn’t had a proper meal in Jeju since I arrived at Jeju Airport.
For my first taste of Jeju, I decided to go for “black pork.” While trying seafood is a great option, Jeju’s other specialty, “black pork,” is also noteworthy. That’s why I chose to have a meal centered around black pork this time.
“Seogwipo Black Pork Restaurant: Munchibi”
The place I visited this time is a restaurant called “Munchibi,” located on Arangjoel Street. The restaurant had a lively atmosphere, much like a typical Korean barbecue joint. Once seated, a hearty meal with various side dishes was served.
The black pork came at a reasonable price of around 18,000 KRW per serving. One of the advantages was that you didn’t have to grill the meat yourself. The owner or staff would expertly cook the meat, so all you had to do was enjoy the deliciously grilled pork.
This place was where I had my first proper meal on this trip, even though it was late evening. It turned out to be a satisfying dining experience.
For couples or friends traveling to Jeju Island, I recommend exploring the various restaurants on Seogwipo’s Arangjoel Street and having a meal at a place that piques your interest. It’s an area where you can find a variety of great dining options all in one place.
