Hanyang University Student Welfare Center – Hanyang Plaza

Hanyang University is a four-year comprehensive private university located in Seoul. The main campus, Seoul Campus, is situated in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, while the ERICA Campus is located in Sangnok-gu, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do.

The university’s symbol is a lion, the flower is forsythia, and the dove is the emblem of the student council. The symbolic color is blue. Founded in 1939 as Dong-A Engineering Institute by Kim Yeon-jun, the institution changed its name to Kunguk Technical College after the liberation in 1945. In 1947, it was reorganized into Hanyang Night Industrial College and later changed to Hanyang Engineering College in 1948.

In 1959, it was reorganized into a comprehensive university and adopted its current name. Subsequently, in 1979, the Ansan Campus was established in Gyeonggi-do, managing two campuses.

Hanyang University Seoul Campus, easily accessible via the subway line 2 within the campus, offers great convenience for students commuting by subway. Exiting from Exit 2 of Hanyang University Station on subway line 2, you can see the main building of Hanyang University right in front.

On the left side of the main building is the Student Welfare Center, known as “Hanyang Plaza.” This place houses a café, restaurant, and lounge, providing various student convenience facilities.

Hanyang Plaza has excellent accessibility, right in front of Exit 2 of Hanyang University Station. It offers various student facilities, making it a great place for students to spend time during off-class hours.

On the 1st floor, you can find a convenience store and a Twosome Place, while entering the building reveals a food court. It’s a convenient place for students to have a quick meal.

The 2nd and 4th floors operate as lounges. These spaces are sophisticatedly designed with desks and carrels, making them suitable for studying or relaxing. Especially, the carrels can be reserved by Hanyang University students or faculty members for specific time slots. However, if the seats are available, anyone can use them. One thing to be cautious about is that no food consumption is allowed in the lounge. If caught eating, you may be asked to leave, so it’s essential to be mindful.

“3rd Floor: Student Cafeteria”

On the 3rd floor, you’ll find a student cafeteria. Three different menus are provided daily at a reasonable price of 3,600 to 3,900 won. Considering the recent rapid increase in living costs, it’s a relatively inexpensive place to have a meal. The prices are reasonable, and the taste is quite good, making it an excellent choice for students on a budget.

Located conveniently near Hanyang University Station on subway line 2, the student facilities within Hanyang University Seoul Campus offer various amenities, making it a place worth knowing.
