Between Gwangmyeong Intersection Station and Cheolsan Station, there is a small but well-known kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant. It’s not far from Gwangmyeong City Hall and gained fame after being featured on a TV show where a celebrity visited this kalguksu restaurant.
“Human Condition: Kim Jun-hyun’s Regular Kalguksu Place”
This place was introduced as comedian Kim Jun-hyun’s regular kalguksu place on the TV show “Human Condition”. The nearest subway stations are Gwangmyeong Intersection Station and Cheolsan Station, and it is relatively closer to Gwangmyeong Intersection Station.
“A Cozy Noodle Soup Place: Yeotjinmi Kalguksu”
The menu offered here is very simple. They have kalguksu, mandu kalguksu (dumpling noodle soup), mandu (dumplings), yeolmu kalguksu (young radish kimchi noodle soup), and yeolmu guksu (young radish kimchi cold noodle soup). The prices are quite affordable and are as follows (please note that these prices are based on 2021 and may have changed slightly):
- Kalguksu: 6,000 KRW
- Mandu Kalguksu: 7,000 KRW
- Mandu Guksu: 7,000 KRW
- Mandu (Dumplings): 7,000 KRW
- Yeolmu Guksu: 7,000 KRW
They focus on one menu item, and it’s this specialization that has made them famous. The quality of their mandu and kalguksu speaks for itself.
The restaurant is relatively small. There are about three tables in the dining area, so it’s not easy to accommodate a large number of guests at once. As a result, it’s not easy to secure a seat, and during meal times, most customers have to wait in line.
“We Ordered Mandu Kalguksu: 7,000 KRW”
On this day, two of us visited and each ordered mandu kalguksu. The kalguksu had plenty of dumplings, allowing us to have a simple yet hearty meal.
The prices are quite reasonable, making it a local gem where you can visit without feeling burdened. If you live nearby, it’s worth visiting at least once.
