Gwanghwamun’s Elegant Sushi Restaurant: ‘Gyeonghuigung Tuna House’

Gwanghwamun is a representative office-dense area in Seoul where one can find a variety of restaurants. It offers a wide range of menus, making it a place with abundant choices, and given its large population of office workers, many restaurants cater to their tastes.

“Gwanghwamun Restaurant: Gyeonghuigung Tuna House”

As inferred from its name, Gyeonghuigung Tuna House is a restaurant specializing in tuna dishes. From tuna sashimi to tuna set meals and tuna sushi, you can savor a variety of tuna-based dishes.

Since it primarily serves seafood like sashimi, the prices are relatively high. They also offer set meals, starting from ₩25,000.

  • Tuna Sashimi
    • Regular: ₩50,000
    • Special: ₩70,000
    • Gold: ₩90,000
    • VIP: ₩120,000
    • VVIP: ₩150,000

    • Assorted Sushi: ₩30,000
    • Odoro Sushi: ₩50,000

While the prices for dishes like tuna sashimi or set meals might be on the higher side, they also offer special lunch menu options.

Until 2020, the price for a bowl of raw fish roe soup was ₩10,000, but due to the recent global inflation, it has increased to ₩13,000. Prices may be subject to change, so specific prices are not mentioned, but the menu is summarized below.

“A Restaurant with Separate, Private Rooms”

The restaurant is quite spacious. While you can dine in the hall where tables are set up, on important occasions, the restaurant provides separate private rooms. By making a reservation in advance, you can have your meal in these rooms without any disturbance from other guests.

“Raw Fish Roe Soup: ₩13,000”

On this visit, I ordered the raw fish roe soup. As mentioned earlier, due to recent rapid inflation, the price of the soup increased from ₩10,000 to ₩13,000.

However, despite the relatively higher price, the ingredients in the soup are plentiful, making it an enjoyable dish. This restaurant is known for its tuna sashimi, and it’s one of the first places that comes to mind when thinking of seafood restaurants.

However, compared to other nearby restaurants, it’s slightly more expensive. Thus, people who visit for lunch are relatively fewer than those at other restaurants. For renowned restaurants in the Gwanghwamun area, you can often see long lines of people waiting, but at this restaurant, it’s relatively less crowded. It’s a good place to visit when nearby restaurants are full.
