Gwanghwamun Restaurant ‘Gwanghwamun Meat House’ in Seoul

The Gwanghwamun area is a representative office-dense district in Seoul, where you can find restaurants catering to office workers’ lunch needs. Among the restaurants in the Gwanghwamun area, there are those with very simple names, and “Gwanghwamun Meat House” is a prime example.

“Gwanghwamun’s Meat House, Gwanghwamun Meat House”

As the name suggests, Gwanghwamun Meat House is a restaurant specializing in meat dishes that you can find in the Gwanghwamun area. It’s an excellent place for having a grilled meat dinner.

On the menu, you’ll find options like “Samgyeopsal (pork belly), Moksal (neck), Deungsim Deotsal (ribeye cap), Kkeopdegi Hangjeongsal (thin pork belly), and Samgyeop Ongalbi (marinated pork ribs).”

  • Samgyeopsal (200g): ₩13,000
  • Moksal (180g): ₩13,000
  • Deungsim Deotsal (180g): ₩15,000
  • Kkeopdegi Hangjeongsal: ₩16,000
  • Samgyeop Ongalbi: ₩15,000

When you order a meat dish, they offer a service where they cut the meat for you while it’s grilling. This makes it easy to enjoy the meat once it’s cooked to perfection.

“Gwanghwamun Meat House Also Offers Lunch Menus”

While it’s a meat restaurant perfect for grilling meat in the evening, this time I visited during lunchtime. Even though it’s a meat restaurant, they also offer menus suitable for a simple lunch.

For lunch, they have the following menu options:

  • Gwanghwamun Doenjang Jjigae (soybean paste stew): ₩7,000
  • Tong Dwaeji Kimchi Jjigae (pork and kimchi stew): ₩7,000
  • Kkomak Bibimbap (baby octopus mixed rice): ₩7,000
  • Yukhoe Bibimbap (beef tartare mixed rice): ₩10,000
  • Myeongran Gyeran Mari (spicy pollack roe rolled omelette): ₩6,000
  • Tong Dwaeji Duruchigi (stir-fried pork): ₩16,000

This time, I ordered the Kimchi Jjigae. When you order a lunch menu, basic side dishes are provided, including kimchi, bean sprout salad, and seaweed. The chosen menu is added to these side dishes.

The Tong Dwaeji Kimchi Jjigae was generously filled with meat. It provided a simple yet hearty meal that harmonized well with the kimchi.

Although I visited for lunch this time, it’s a place that makes me want to come back for dinner when I have the opportunity.
