Daegu is a metropolitan city located in the heart of Gyeongsangbuk-do, boasting a relatively large scale for a regional city. As a result, you can find Emart in various locations throughout Daegu. Emart tends to create slightly different atmospheres depending on the region.
“Emart Gyeongsan Branch”
Technically, the Gyeongsan Branch is not considered part of Daegu in terms of its address. It’s officially listed under Gyeongsan City in Gyeongsangbuk-do. However, Gyeongsan is practically close to Daegu’s Suseong-gu, so it can be considered part of the greater Daegu metropolitan area.
This Emart, located near Suseong-gu, which is often referred to as Gangnam (South Seoul) of Daegu, is quite substantial in scale. Its interior is neatly designed, exuding a luxurious atmosphere.
“Food Court: Selec the Table”
At Emart Gyeongsan Branch, you can also find a food court. While some Emart locations may not have a food court, the Gyeongsan Branch has a reasonably sized one, well-appointed. In particular, a place named ‘Selec the Table’ stands out for its impressive clean and stylish interior. Its distinguishing feature is the large windows allowing in ample sunlight.
In the past, when people talked about Emart food courts, there was a perception of affordability. However, now there are places emerging that don’t give off that impression at all, and Gyeongsan Branch is one of them. ‘Selec the Table’ hosts the following eateries:
- Seongsu-dong Yukgaejang Kalguksu (Spicy Beef Soup with Noodles)
- Tonkatsu, Tanudong (Pork Cutlet, Sweet and Sour Pork)
- Yukhaebap (Beef Rice Bowl)
- Tengoku “Ramen, Donburi” (Heaven Ramen, Rice Bowls)
- Chinese Home Cooking
“Chinese Bibim Jjamppong Rice Bowl: KRW 8,500”
On this day, I personally visited Emart for work purposes. After finishing my tasks, it was lunchtime, so I was able to have a quick meal in the food court inside Emart. I ordered a meal from a Chinese cuisine restaurant and had the Chinese Bibim Jjamppong Rice Bowl to satisfy my hunger.
Despite being a food court, it was operated cleanly and was a good place to have a light meal.
