On the third day of my Tokyo trip, the itinerary included exploring the Ghibli Museum located in Mitaka. Since the museum visit was scheduled for 2 PM, I decided to leisurely explore Akihabara in the morning. After having lunch, the plan was to travel to Mitaka via Shinjuku.
However, unexpectedly, it started raining in the morning. Not having prepared an umbrella, I decided to stop by Akihabara to purchase one. Initially considering a simple vinyl umbrella, I changed my mind and opted for a proper umbrella that could also serve as a souvenir. I ended up buying a three-fold umbrella that conveniently flattens when closed, a personal highlight of my Japan trip.
“Akihabara UDX Building’s Restaurant Alley”
After acquiring the umbrella, time passed more quickly than expected, and I didn’t have as much temporal flexibility to explore Akihabara. I decided to revisit later and focused on quickly resolving lunch. Heading towards the “UDX” building, which is known for its variety of restaurants, seemed like a good idea.
The “UDX” building is easily accessible by moving towards the north after exiting Akihabara Station’s west entrance. Following the bridge that leads to the building makes it easy to find the entrance.
“Hamburg Strong in the UDX Building’s Restaurant Alley”
After exploring several dining options, I spotted a restaurant that seemed decent in terms of atmosphere considering the price. Due to two previous dining disappointments in the last two days of the trip, I had to be more cautious in my restaurant selection this time.
Thus, I settled on a restaurant named ‘Hamburg Strong,’ where the dishes were priced around 1,000 to 1,200 yen, offering a reasonable dining option.
“Curry Rice Set: 1,200 yen”
On this day, I ordered the curry rice set after examining the menu. The set menu was priced at around 1,200 yen, roughly equivalent to 12,000 won. I added a cup of coffee to my order, which incurred a bit more cost, but the food tasted good, and the pricing was reasonable, making it a practical expenditure.
Akihabara, known for attracting many young people, possibly contributed to the lively atmosphere of the entire restaurant. Thanks to the satisfying meal, I was ready to head to the Ghibli Museum with renewed energy.
