Sulbing is a franchise originating from Busan, South Korea. Established in 2013, it positions itself as a “Korean Dessert Cafe”. Its main menu items are red bean shaved ice (patbingsu) and injeolmi, offering dishes not typically found in traditional cafes. Within a year, it expanded to over 400 franchise locations, marking its success.
Sulbing has become a well-known franchise cafe, not only in numerous locations in Seoul but also in major cities across the country.
“Sulbing Sinchon Branch in Seoul”
You can also find Sulbing in the heart of Seoul, in the area known as “Sinchon”. This area is famous for being home to prestigious universities such as Yonsei University, Ewha Womans University, and Sogang University. If you can’t find a renowned store like Sulbing in this area, it would actually be quite unusual.
The Sulbing Sinchon branch is located on Yonsei-ro, which can be considered the central area of Sinchon. As you walk up from Sinchon Station in the direction of Yonsei University, you’ll come across it.
The store is situated on the second floor, offering a fair number of seats and making good use of its spacious layout.
“A Place Where You Can Find Many Young People”
Due to the nature of the Sinchon area, which is frequented by young people, especially university students, it’s natural to see a gathering of this demographic at Sulbing. When I visited for a simple dessert after dinner, it seemed that everyone had the same idea. Sulbing was bustling with so many people that it felt like a lively market.
To put it positively, it was an energetic and vibrant atmosphere; on the negative side, one could say it was as bustling as a marketplace.
“Sulbing Offers a Variety of Patbingsu Menu”
Sulbing offers a variety of patbingsu menus. One of Sulbing’s signature dishes is the Injeolmi Patbingsu, which is considered the best and is also known as the mascot menu of Sulbing. Here are some of the various bingsu menus available at Sulbing:
- Injeolmi Patbingsu
- Pat Injeolmi Patbingsu
- Cheese Patbingsu
- Blueberry Cheese Patbingsu
- Apple Mango Cheese Patbingsu
- Chocolate Brownie Patbingsu
- Tiramisu Patbingsu
- Green Tea Chocolate Patbingsu
- Real Green Tea Patbingsu
- Oreo Chocolate Monster Patbingsu
- Mint Chocolate Patbingsu
- Mugwort Sticky Rice Cake Patbingsu
- Black Sesame Sticky Rice Cake Patbingsu

- Strawberry Macaron Patbingsu
“Real Plump Melon Patbingsu”
The menu I ordered during this visit was the “Real Plump Melon Patbingsu”. The melon is halved, the contents are scooped out, filled with red bean shaved ice, and then topped with the scooped melon. It’s a patbingsu made by using tropical fruit as a whole, not just a simple patbingsu. Especially on a hot summer day, it was even more refreshing to taste the shaved ice.
Sulbing, a space selling Korean-style desserts, is a great place to visit in Sinchon, Seoul, when you’re in the mood for patbingsu.
